Logan Thompson
I am a filmmaker currently attending Ithaca College in New York.
In High school,  I developed a love and passion for film and video.  Whenever I was assigned a video project in a class I'd work timelessly on it, trying to make it the best it could be for the limited time, resources, and creative freedom I had. After quarantine, I was introduced to the Morning Warrior club. Once I was introduced, I made sure to be at every meeting and help as much as possible. Working on Morning Warrior later got me involved in Wilton High School Television's sports broadcasting program.
Within the programs I became a part of, I started off small. I was always a camera operator or production assistant. As I gained more experience, however, I was given more responsibility. Suddenly I was becoming one of the veteran members of the program and became a member of Wilton Educational Television. This student-run video program directly collaborated with the school district.
At the end of my junior year, I was given immense roles within these programs: host and showrunner of Morning Warrior, head of sports commentary for Wilton High School Television, and Head Creative producer of both Wilton High School and Wilton Educational Television. I was also officially hired as a district intern for the work I did.
As a senior, I began to work more as a mentor, I taught the younger students how to do the jobs that I'd been doing for years. I worked on relaying a mindset that highlighted quality and creativity to the rest of our crew. With all the equipment and student-run freedom we had, I wanted to help push out the best possible product we could make. Sadly, due to budget cuts and severe creative differences between myself and the other head producer, I wasn't able to succeed as much as I wanted to during my senior year.
Wilton High School has also unfortunately privatized the YouTube channel "Wilton High School Television" where much of the work I helped create was posted.
In March of 2023, I began to shift out of the program as a leader and focus more on my own ideas. Firstly, a movie review YouTube channel where I posted my first video on the 21st. Since then, I've made over 120 movie-related videos. I also found a job, working for the Long Ridge summer camp in Stamford Connecticut as a photographer, videographer, and media manager. I took hundreds of photos every day and uploaded the best ones to the camp's Instagram. I also procured camp newsletters for the parents at the end of every week.
Now at Ithaca, I'm working on developing my skills as a filmmaker and film journalist. In my first semester, I found myself on the Dean's List with a 3.75 GPA. I have continued making YouTube movie reviews as well as started a weekly movie podcast for The Ithacan, Ithaca College's award-winning news program. I also joined the school's gender-inclusive cinematic society, Delta Kappa Alpha which has helped get me onto numerous student film sets. Most notably, I've worked twice as an assistant director for sophomore-level films. Last semester, I served as the DKA ASSOCIATE Class president, running all the associate class events. This semester I've served as the Production Chair, helping members find people for their sets and hosting bi-weekly critique sessions for film and photography. I have also developed my first college film, "Love, Braedy" which I began writing in November. It is a huge passion project of mine and I can't wait to share it with the world!
This summer I will be interning at the Cannes Film Festival for 2 weeks. When I get back home, I will again be working at the Long Ridge Camp where I can utilize everything I've learned about film, photography, and digital media in college. I also plan on continuing my podcast and YouTube channel over the summer and into the following semester. Next semester, I will be producing a five-20-minute episode scripted TV series, First Years. This will be my first time producing a scripted project that I am not also directing. It is an experience that I cannot wait for.
